AT THE time this graphic appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Boeing was introducing a new aircraft and United Airlines was to be one of the first air carriers to put the plane into service. Our objectives in creating this graphic was to educate the reader as to how the plane differed from other airplanes then in service. We did that by comparing sizes of the planes, seating capacity, arrangements, storage bays and range of flight. We also included a timeline of commercial aircraft development.
After publication of the graphic Boeing and United expressed their pleasure over the accuracy of our graphic. Software : Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop |

| OLYMPIC coverage is taken very seriously graphically at the Chicago Tribune. The Winter Olympics of 1993 allowed me the opportunity to create the format and the center piece illustrations for our series. I set out to blend information into the art. On the two pieces shown here the emphasis was on various physical forces that affect an athlete as he or she competes: centrifugal force, center of gravity, forward motion and others. [The labeling has not been included with these reproductions.]
Software: Pencil sketches for roughs and Adobe Illustrator for the electronic renderings. |
